The Island Coast Gators can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against South Fort Myers by a score of 55-45. The victory was just what Island Coast needed coming off of a 82-37 defeat in their prior matchup.
Island Coast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kobey Babernitch out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Babernitch's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of SirJoshua Anderson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Island Coast's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for South Fort Myers, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Island Coast will take on Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dunbar has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for South Fort Myers, they will head out on the road to face off against Seacrest Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
