The University Trojans will face off against the Portola Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
University took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Buena Park by a score of 10-2.

Zion Barreto was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 95 yards and one TD. Those 95 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
University's run defense was locked in: Buena Park could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Marco Pablo Tirado for the heroic effort on defense: he. University's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.9.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portola). They blew past Katella 38-0 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Knights are ranked 893rd).
Portola's win came from a few key players University will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Timothy Grettenberg, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Orion Suttle, who threw for 123 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
One reason for the win was Portola's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Maxwell Mapstone, Avant Johnson, and Hamza Soliman, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Katella's side was Mapstone, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (3.5 for loss).
University pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.3 points on average over those games. As for Portola, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
University suffered a grim 31-6 defeat to Portola in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grettenberg, who rushed for 214 yards and four scores. Now that the Trojans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
