The Briggsdale Falcons came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Haxtun 58-33. Briggsdale has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Briggsdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Krise, who scored 26 points along with six steals and five assists. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Krise has scored at least a third of Briggsdale's points. Another player making a difference was Kayl Klem, who scored eight points along with nine steals and eight assists.
Despite the loss, Haxtun still got an impressive performance from Cassidy Goddard, who scored six points along with seven rebounds. Jayleigh Bullard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Haxtun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briggsdale only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Briggsdale pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Haxtun, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.
Briggsdale's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Peetz has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Haxtun, they will head out on the road to take on the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Caliche focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
