The Pebble Hills Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Franklin 54-14 on the road. The result was nothing new for Pebble Hills, who have now won four matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Gael Ochoa went supernova for Pebble Hills, throwing for 327 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 15.6 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Zereian Quarles, who rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Pebble Hills' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shay Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Pebble Hills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Franklin, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-3.
Pebble Hills will take on Eastlake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Pebble Hills is ranked 195th). As for Franklin, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastwood will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
