The Buffalo Bison will head out to challenge the Edina Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Buffalo is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: St. Michael-Albertville, who was ranked fifth at the time (Buffalo was ranked 16th). The Bison came up short against the Knights on Monday, falling 17-7. The Bison have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
CASH HOURSCHT made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was AIDEN MARCONETT, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Edina and Washburn, and Edina kept the tradition alive. The Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Millers on Saturday, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by just one run.
Kaden Kimes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Avi Aggarwal also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Edina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Edina is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Buffalo, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Buffalo hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Edina struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Buffalo suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Edina in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
