The Bishop Alemany Warriors will face off against the Kennedy Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Alemany's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Kennedy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Bishop Alemany took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Verdugo Hills 6-4. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Kalie Peralta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Alemany got a big performance out of Sienna Valadez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Valadez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Riggen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennedy). They came out on top against Highland by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday.
Kennedy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Anais Perez gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Melaney Velasco, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Brooklyn Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Kennedy pushed their record up to 2-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Alemany, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Kennedy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Alemany hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .440. It's a different story for Kennedy, though, as they've only averaged .225. Will they be able to contain Bishop Alemany's hitters?
Bishop Alemany couldn't quite finish off Kennedy in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can Bishop Alemany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
