Dunbar had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-7 to make it seven. They lost 11-1 to the Cypress Lake Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in March.
Dunbar saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arnya Jackson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Another was Bri Shaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Cypress Lake, their record now sits at 8-9. Considering they have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Cypress Lake's side, Grace Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Taylor has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peyton Hearne was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Madison Henderson was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Coming up, Dunbar will square off against Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.6 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cypress Lake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
