6A District 8 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Hillsborough led 6A District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on King. Dwayne Lawson threw for 90 yards and one touchdown and ran for 13 yards in the win.
Jefferson's dynamic duo of Deiondre Porter and Jonathan Moore proved tough for Leto to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Porter threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns and Moore had 113 yards receiving. Derrick Ingram helped Jefferson's passing attack out by catching three balls for 65 yards.
Ray Ray McCloud III was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 154 yards on 18 carries as Sickles defeated the Falcons. Teammate Lee Myers added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
Jefferson's Porter and Moore have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Porter has thrown for 1853 yards this season, while Moore, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 50 catches for 920 yards. The Gryphons' McCloud III leads the league in rushing yards with 1028.
Jeremy Earle's team's Moore needs only 80 receiving yards against Strawberry Crest to crack 1,000 for the season.
Going into this week's game against the Chargers, the Dragons' Porter needs 147 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in 6A District 8 this week will be when Armwood takes on the Lions. The Hawks are currently in second, while King is in sixth.
Leto made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,061 from 11,369. The improvement was the result of 39-6 victory over Matt Kitchie's team last week.
