While Winters put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Rio Vista. The Winters Warriors simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rio Vista Rams 77-0 at home. Winters was led to victory by Lane Brown and Sebastian Rodriguez. Brown rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while Rodriguez rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Jimenez, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Winters was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 547 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Winters wouldn't let Rio Vista keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Winters can thank Julian Herrera and Ricky Garcia for forcing both of them. Garcia also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making five total tackles (1.0 for loss).
The win made it two in a row for Winters and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Rio Vista, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winters will venture away from home to take on Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rio Vista, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th.
