The Parke Heritage Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the South Putnam Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Parke Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Parke Heritage is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Riverton Parke on Tuesday. They lost 8-2 to the Panthers.
Parke Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aerianna DeSmith, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, South Putnam hadn't done well against West Vigo recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-3 win. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Haylee Tincher was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Adrie Burge also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
South Putnam was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
South Putnam now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Parke Heritage, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Parke Heritage hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Putnam struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Parke Heritage suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to South Putnam in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
