Florida high school football state championship action begins this week with three title games.
The Class 2A contest kicked things off Thursday as Champagnat Catholic (10-3) rolled past Victory Christian Academy (11-2) 35-14 for the title. With the win, Champagnat erased the stinging memory of a 28-0 loss to North Florida Christian in last year's championship game.
Friday will put the Class 3A championship game in the spotlight as Florida State University (12-1) takes on Chaminade-Madonna (11-2).
Finally, Madison County (11-2) faces Blountstown (13-0) in the Class 1A title game on Saturday.
The championship games for Classes 5A and 7A are scheduled for Dec. 14. Class 4A hits the state final turf on Dec. 11. Classes 6A and 8A will conclude FHSAA's parade of state football battles on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 respectively.
Classes 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A finalists will go toe-to-toe at Daytona Stadium in Daytona.
Champions in 2018 include Madison County (1A), North Florida Christian (2A), Chaminade-Madonna (3A), Raines (4A), Cardinal Gibbons (5A), Northwestern (6A), Lakeland (7A) and Mandarin (8A).
