After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. John's Prep, the Leominster Blue Devils were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 47-14 victory over Westborough. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Leominster's seven-point performance the matchup before.
Leading Leominster to victory were Xavier Cora and Osiris Lopez. Cora rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Lopez threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. Cora was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Jaidis Delgado also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Leominster is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Westborough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Leominster will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fitchburg at 6:30 p.m. on November 22nd. Fitchburg is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Westborough will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Algonquin Regional at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd.
