The O'Neill Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Guardian Angels Central Catholic 43-39. O'Neill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Despite the defeat, O'Neill saw an underclassman step up: Turner Heiss scored 18 points along with two steals. Heiss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Pokorny, who scored eight points along with two steals.
O'Neill struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season.
O'Neill's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Creighton has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Braves at 11:45 a.m. on February 3rd.
