Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 1 on the offensive boards, a fact the Dakota Ridge Eagles proved on Friday. They claimed a resounding 68-17 win over Alameda on the road. That looming 68-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Dakota Ridge yet this season.
Dakota Ridge was led to victory by Andrew Schneider and Ethan Berninger. Schneider scored 12 points, while Berninger scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The match was Berninger's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Adam Hoft, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Alameda had strong showings from Donavyn Lopez, who scored six points, and Adam Magana, who scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Magana has scored all season.
Dakota Ridge pushed their record up to 5-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Alameda, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Dakota Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Denver East at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Denver East is ranked 61st, while Dakota Ridge is ranked 58th). As for Alameda, they will head out on the road to face off against Littleton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Littleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
