The Moss Point Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the West Harrison Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Moss Point ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bryant 48-45. Given Moss Point's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 135th in Mississippi, while Bryant is ranked 382nd in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quey'sean Taylor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Moss Point's points. Jujuan Nettles was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight assists.
Even though West Harrison has not done well against Long Beach recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West Harrison blew past Long Beach, posting a 65-30 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win West Harrison has managed all season.
Moss Point's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6. As for West Harrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Moss Point strolled past West Harrison when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 62-44. Will Moss Point repeat their success, or does West Harrison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
