The El Camino Wildcats had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 win over Canyon Crest Academy. For El Camino, this counts as revenge for the 53-38 defeat Canyon Crest Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
El Camino found their leader in underclassman Alana Hoskins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hoskins has scored at least a third of El Camino's points. Another player making a difference was Jaelle Fulford, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Canyon Crest Academy lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Caroline Dysart. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dysart has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Thrisha Boopathi, who scored eight points.
El Camino's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-13.
El Camino does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Mission Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
