Softball Recap: Alamosa Wins Going Away Against Rocky Ford

Alamosa's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Rocky Ford Meloneers. The Mean Moose might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Olivia Castillo tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makissa Quinlan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Shaya Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Alamosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Ford only managed six hits.

Alamosa's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Rocky Ford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Alamosa is set to challenge their familiar foe Southeast Colorado at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rocky Ford will face off against rival La Junta at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
