The Brunswick Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lowndes as Brunswick made off with a 65-45 win. Given Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Lowndes is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brunswick was led to victory by Caleb Butler and Heze Kent. Butler scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, while Kent dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kent has scored at least 25% of Brunswick's points. Another player making a difference was Craig Battle, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lowndes still got an impressive performance from Kam Jackson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Jackson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyshawn Arthur, who scored 12 points.
Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Lowndes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will be home for the holidays to greet Hilton Head Island at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowndes will be home for the holidays to greet Berrien at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
