A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Jacob Mobley and his top target London Green. Mobley threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt while Green picked up 100 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Green was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 50 yards. Richard Sykes did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.
Lennard didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mekhi Williams, Zion Thompson, and Calvin Mobley picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Spoto strolled past Davenport with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-19.
Z'Orey Cotton had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 255 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Nathan Richardson, who threw for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Spoto's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Xavier Ortiz and Elijah Vega who racked up four sacks between them. Rome Freeman was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Lennard took their victory against Spoto when the teams last played back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 51-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lennard since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
