Baseball Recap: Escondido Charter's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Escondido Charter put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Liberty Charter Lions with a sharp 15-8 win. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Joey Seavello and Karl (Liam) Ricciardi were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Seavello pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ricciardi pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Seavello scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Ricciardi went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Ricciardi a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Romero, who scored five runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hydar, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Escondido Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Escondido Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Liberty Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Escondido Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 17-3 win against Orange Glen on the 17th. As for Liberty Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-4 loss against Rock Academy on the 19th.
