There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 14 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. A special shoutout goes to Dinuba's junior Josh Magana, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Liberty got a 35 - 27 win over Chowchilla last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Wyatt Roth. Roth earned four touchdowns and 263 yards rushing the ball. That performance landed Roth among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Tulare Union (3rd in the power rankings) and Tulare Western (5th). Tulare Union breezed past Tulare Western with a final score of 35 - 14. One star in particular for Tulare Union was senior Nathan Lamb, who tossed the ball for 299 yards and two TDs.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 92-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Central earned a pretty comfortable 54 - 38 victory over Clovis East. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Trent Tompkins, who brought his A game into the contest. He threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Buchanan (2nd in the power rankings) and Clovis West (18th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Don't be surprised if the score for this one pushes triple digits as Buchanan and Clovis West both racked up points last week.
