Bucyrus is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Wynford a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Bucyrus Redmen will look to defend their home court against the Wynford Royals at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Bucyrus and Colonel Crawford had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Redmen took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Tuesday. Redmen fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Tuesday.
Bucyrus started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Wynford lost 3-0 to Carey on Tuesday.
The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.
Bucyrus will have to keep a close watch on Kate McGuire and Madisyn Watkins, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wynford's prior game. McGuire had 14 digs, while Watkins had 14 assists and six digs. Watkins is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.
Wynford's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Bucyrus, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Bucyrus came out on top in a nail-biter against Wynford in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 3-2. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Royals' Makayla Morgan, who had 22 digs. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Redmen still be able to contain Morgan? There's only one way to find out.
