New Milford is 1-9 against Newtown since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Green Wave will challenge the Nighthawks at 4:15 p.m. One thing working in New Milford's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
Newtown's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: New Milford hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Green Wave put the hurt on Joel Barlow with a sharp 17-0 win on Friday. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Nea Plisko made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Lilly Fortier and Cienna McNamara did most of the damage at the plate: Fortier fired off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while McNamara fired off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, Fortier posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Mairead Bell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
New Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Newtown was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterford. The Nighthawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
New Milford's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Newtown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
New Milford couldn't quite finish off Newtown when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Green Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
