It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Scotland Fighting Scots had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Southern Durham by a score of 21-12. Scotland pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Southern Durham cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scotland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ji'san Mcphatter, who threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Zay Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 126 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Southern Durham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dayston Moore. Despite the final result, he rushed for 115 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
The win makes it two in a row for Scotland and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Southern Durham, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Scotland will play host again and welcome Northern Nash, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northern Nash has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 150 points over their last three matchups. Southern Durham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
