Make it six blowout wins for the Ida Baker Bulldogs this season. They claimed a resounding 54-13 victory over Island Coast on the road. The win was familiar territory for Ida Baker who now have four in a row.
Maia Berdebes was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Nieves, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Island Coast saw an underclassman step up: Samarrah Desir scored eight points. That was a full 61.5% of Island Coast's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ida Baker's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Island Coast, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ida Baker will square off against Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lehigh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Island Coast, they will head out on the road to challenge Oasis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oasis is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
