Football Recap: Otis Takes Down Ranked Eads

Otis faced Eads in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs claimed a resounding 74-42 win over the Eagles. Considering the Bulldogs have won six games by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Otis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mitchell Stivers and Emiliano Varela. Stivers also punched in three rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Otis is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Eads' loss came despite strong showings from Anthony Paez and Karsten Buller. Paez gained 179 total yards and three touchdowns, while Buller rushed for 138 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. Buller's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Otis moved to 7-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Eads, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Otis will be playing at home against Fleming at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Eads, they will square off against Branson/Kim at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will be up against the Bearcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.22 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
