The Cardozo Clerks can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They claimed a resounding 80-41 victory over Eastern on the road. With Cardozo ahead 51-24 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Cameron Young was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 28 points and nine assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nasir Slater, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Eastern's loss came despite strong showings from Rashid Faruq and Isyah Joyner. Faruq scored 16 points along with five assists, while Joyner dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Faruq hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Derrick Gatling was another key contributor, scoring two points.
Cardozo pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.1 points per game. As for Eastern, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
Cardozo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Ron Brown at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastern is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
