The Roosevelt Roughriders's game last Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They managed a 67-61 victory over New Town. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in District of Columbia, while New Town is ranked 138th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Hudgens, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hudgens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sean Hall, who scored 14 points.
Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for New Town, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt's road trip will continue as they head out to face Woodland Hills at 2:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for New Town, they will challenge Patapsco at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
