Andrew Jackson Academy fell 50-40 to North on Saturday. Andrew Jackson Academy's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Andrew Jackson Academy saw an underclassman step up: McKinley Beard scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Beard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlo Sease, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amariyah Calloway, who scored 14 points. Calloway continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alayshia Mack, who scored 11 points.
Andrew Jackson Academy now has a losing record at 8-9. As for North, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andrew Jackson Academy will challenge Cathedral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North, they will head out on the road to challenge Blackville-Hilda at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blackville-Hilda and North are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
