The Bethany Community Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Morehead Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bethany Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Bethany Community was able to grind out a solid win over Eastern Guilford, taking the game 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.
Christopher 'Noah' Carter made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Bethany Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Morehead made easy work of Reidsville on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Bethany Community, Morehead also got a great game from a two-way player: Zachary Grogan. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave Grogan a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Jacob Sands was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Reece Dunovant, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Bethany Community's record is now 6-4. As for Morehead, their record now sits at 9-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bethany Community has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Morehead struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
