Arcadia/Loup City hasn't had much luck against St. Paul recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels will take on the St. Paul Wildcats in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. Arcadia/Loup City is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
While Arcadia/Loup City didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Amherst with a 38-34 win on Tuesday.
It was another big night for Eva Jaixen, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayler Obermiller, who had eight points and four steals.
Meanwhile, St. Paul's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Tuesday. They took a 31-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Adams Central. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.
Arcadia/Loup City will need focus on slowing down Alli Dugan, one of several St. Paul players who made an impact when they last played. She put up two points in addition to five assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Addyson Wegner, who posted five points and four steals.
Having lost for the first time this season, St. Paul fell to 3-1. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Arcadia/Loup City has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 boards per game. However, it's not like St. Paul struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Arcadia/Loup City ended up a good deal behind St. Paul in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 50-32. Can Arcadia/Loup City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
