The Independence Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Triway Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
On Monday, Independence made easy work of Cuyahoga Heights and carried off a 12-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Red Wolves since May 7, 2019.
Lila Manfredonia and Rabecca Gibson were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Manfredonia tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gibson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Manfredonia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Manfredonia got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Gibson scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macey McGhee, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Vollman, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Independence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuyahoga Heights struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Triway waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Generals.
Kenzie Gatti was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hochstetler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Independence's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Triway, their record now sits at 7-4.
Independence couldn't quite get it done against Triway in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
