2026 New Jersey Preseason MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings

St. Joseph Regional and Don Bosco Prep will vie for the Garden State's top spot.

After capturing its first NJSIAA state championship a year ago, St. Joseph Regional (Montvale) enters 2026 as MaxPreps top-ranked preseason team from New Jersey.

The Green Knights went 10-2 in 2025 and defeated Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey) 24-21 in the Non-Public A championship to finish within the final MaxPreps top 40 teams. They'll begin the season at No. 26 nationally and return three-star 2027 prospects in edge rushers Cam Aime (Pittsburgh commit) and Chaz Gray (Washington) and safety Jonathan Galette (Penn State) along with four-star 2028 recruits in Tahj Gray and David Forster.

Other New Jersey teams included in the MaxPreps Preseason Top 100 are Don Bosco Prep (No. 30), Bergen Catholic (Oradell) (No. 39) and St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City) (No. 99).

Some of the state's top recruits include a trio of Notre Dame commits in offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola of St. Peter's Prep and edge rushers Aidan O'Neil of Don Bosco Prep and Jackson Vaughn of Bergen Catholic. Oregon commit Xavier Sabb of Glassboro and four-star junior Nasir Richardson of Shabazz (Newark) highlight some of the state's top skill players.

New Jersey's reigning state champions include Glassboro in Group 1, Camden in Group 2, Cedar Creek (Egg Harbor City) in Group 3, Winslow Township (Atco) in Group 4, Washington Township (Sewell) in Group 5, St. Joseph Regional in Non-Public A and DePaul Catholic (Wayne) in Non-Public B.
