Wagner earned some more postseason success in their matchup on Friday. They steamrolled past Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial 74-14.
Wagner started the contest off right with 47 first-half points. The Thunderbirds put the game away in the third quarter with 20 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
sophomore Isaiah Williams went supernova for Wagner as he rushed for 210 yards and two TDs on 18 carries. Williams has been a consistent playmaker for Wagner as this was the sixth good game in a row from him. The Wagner defense stepped up as well to lay out the quarterback nine times.
The victory was the 12th in a row for Wagner and raised their record to 13-1. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's overall record now falls to 10-4.
The Thunderbirds will take on Shadow Creek in each of the teams' fifth playoff game next week. Shadow Creek has averaged 50.17 points over the course of their past six games, so the Thunderbirds might be in for a challenge. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
