In Saturday's non-league challenge, the host Villa Maria Academy Hurricanes volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Downingtown West Whippets.

The Hurricanes (3-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Mt. St. Joseph Academy (Flourtown, PA). The Magic come into the Catholic Academies challenge with a 5-3 record. In their last challenge, Mt. St. Joseph Academy edged Gwynedd Mercy Academy (Gwynedd Valley, PA), 3-2, in a league challenge.

Next, the Whippets play the Sun Valley Vanguards (Aston, PA) in a Ches-Mont challenge, on Monday, October 13. Downingtown West will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Vanguards come into the challenge with a 3-15 record after their 3-0 league loss to Henderson (West Chester, PA).
