The McMullen County Cowboys got by the visiting George West Longhorns basketball squad by a tally of 42-41 in Tuesday's non-league bout.

The Cowboys now possess a 18-4 record. They play next when they travel to Lasara for a 1A Region IV District 32 bout on Saturday, January 3. McMullen County will play a Lions team coming off a 71-27 non-league loss to Lyford (Lyford, TX). The Lions record now stands at 0-6.

The Longhorns (9-8) will now prepare for their test against Taft (Taft, TX). The Greyhounds come into the 3A Region IV District 29 test with a 13-9 record. In their last bout, Taft was edged by Jones (Beeville, TX), 73-67, in a non-league bout.
