McMullen County Cowboys (Tilden, TX) backers went home thrilled Tuesday as they saw their basketball team smash the visiting Premont Cowboys (Premont, TX), 56-27 in a non-league contest.

The Cowboys (17-4) will now prepare for their contest against Lasara (Lasara, TX). The Lions go into the 1A Region IV District 32 contest with a 0-6 record. In their last contest, Lasara was trounced by Lyford (Lyford, TX), 71-27, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cowboys battle the Agua Dulce Longhorns (Agua Dulce, TX) in a 2A Region IV District 32 match, on Tuesday, January 6. Premont will attempt to advance on its 3-7 season record. The Longhorns enter the match with a 4-11 record after their 33-32 non-league loss to Odem (Odem, TX).
