RJ Galvez has been named player of the year. "As a junior, Rolando (RJ) Galvez is a great a team leader and clearly loves the game. Opposing coaches will comment on his abilities and will always comment on how RJ loves the game, always smiling. RJ transferred to Rush City in order to be eligible to enroll in college classes while in high school. RJ is an extremely talented shortstop with a strong lower half who is a switch hitter with a projectable frame. RJ has excellent pre-pitch moves and anticipation for the game as a smooth fielding shortshop. RJ has exceptionally smooth hands and clean exchange leading to strong throws. RJ has tremendous fielding range. RJ is an excellent hitter who uses his lower half to drive the ball. He has an excellent swing and is a tough out. RJ finished the season hitting .837, OBP .841, and slugging 1.325. RJ finished near the top in the state in RBI, stolen bases and striking out opposing batters. He is currently leading the nation in batting average and OBP. RJ loves to compete against the best."
