May 13, 2011: Thorsby, AL 35171 Spectators at Friday's non-league battle between the Leroy Bears (Leroy, AL) and the host Thorsby Rebels (Thorsby, AL), saw Leroy's baseball squad knock off Thorsby by a count of 19-14.
Coming up next, the Bears play the American Christian Academy Patriots (Tuscaloosa, AL) in a non-league battle, on Wednesday, May 18. Leroy will attempt to move on its 32-4 season record. The Patriots enter the battle with a 26-8 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Westbrook Christian (Rainbow City, AL).

Game Summary
Leroy wins strange game 19-14 in 8th innings. At one point we were ahead 14-2 and needing only 3 outs to move on to game 2. But Thorsby teed off on our relief pitchers and plated 7 runs in the 5th and 5 more in the 6th to tie the game. No one scored in the 7th and the Bears plated 5 huge runs in the top half of the 8th. Ajay ended the Rebels chances with a fly ball and 2 huge K's and earned the win for the Bears. Brent Reed set a state record with 5 doubles and tied one with 6 hits in a game. Sammie Coates and Chris Ervin had solo homers and Justin Besteda hit a 3 run shot.
