The Gainesville Red Elephants basketball team scored 71 points and restricted the host Lanier Longhorns to 42 in the Red Elephants league victory on Friday.

The Red Elephants now sport a 21-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Dacula for a AAAAAA Region 8 contest on Saturday, January 28. Gainesville will battle a Falcons team coming off a 70-56 league win over Winder-Barrow (Winder, GA). The Falcons record now stands at 16-6.

The Longhorns (11-11) will now prepare for their contest against Apalachee (Winder, GA). The Wildcats come into the AAAAAA Region 8 contest with a 11-12 record. In their last contest, Apalachee was routed by Winder-Barrow (Winder, GA), 67-60, in a league contest.
