Tampa Bay Tech, the #6 seed, scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to stun the #3 seed Hawks 10-8 in the opening round of the 5A 10 district tournament Monday afternoon at East Bay. Hawk pitchers gave up eleven hits to the Titans, including two home runs (one a Grand Slam), and a triple as the team failed to reach the state playoffs after making the final four the past two seasons. Jordan Fameree and Mark Mahoney each hit home runs for the Hawks, who finished the season with a 12-11 record.
