California High School Volleyball - Pacifica over Estancia
September 26, 2011: Costa Mesa, CA 92627 Pacifica Mariners (Garden Grove, CA) supporters left the game in high spirits Monday as they observed their volleyball squad top the host Estancia Eagles (Costa Mesa, CA), 3-0 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Mariners battle the Kennedy Fighting Irish (La Palma, CA) in a Empire match, on Tuesday, September 27. Pacifica will attempt to advance on its 1-7 season record. The Fighting Irish come into the match with a 2-2 record after their 3-2 league loss to Valencia (Placentia, CA).
With the loss, Estancia drops to 3-5 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Laguna Beach (Laguna Beach, CA) to battle the Breakers in a Orange Coast match on Tuesday, September 27. The Breakers come into the match with a record of 4-4. Laguna Beach lost 2-0 in their recent non-league match against Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos, CA)
Match Summary
Pacifica traveled to Costa Mesa to play a non-conference match with Estancia after a busy weekend at the Santiago Cavalier Volley Fest where they took second place. The two schools, which have never played each other, has a very exciting second game. Tied at 29-29 in the second game Gaby Gutierrez came in off the bench and served an ace to break the tie. Although the Estancia girls put up a good fight, Pacifica won the game 31 to 29.
