California High School Basketball - Ventura holds off Santa Monica

January 21, 2012: Santa Monica, CA 90405

Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Ventura Cougars (Ventura, CA) and the host Santa Monica Vikings (Santa Monica, CA), saw Ventura's basketball squad hold off Santa Monica by a score of 36-30.

With the victory, Ventura improves its record to 16-3 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Buena (Ventura, CA) to play the Bulldogs in a Channel challenge on Thursday, January 26. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 18-4. Buena won 68-51 in their recent league challenge against Dos Pueblos (Goleta, CA)

Next up, the Vikings play the Hawthorne Cougars (Hawthorne, CA) in a Ocean challenge, on Wednesday, January 25. Santa Monica will attempt to improve on its 6-12 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 13-10 record after their 45-43 league loss to Inglewood (Inglewood, CA).
