California High School Baseball - Sequoia tipped by Carlmont
March 27, 2015: Redwood City, CA 94062 The Carlmont Scots baseball team scored 10 runs and limited the host Sequoia Cherokee to 8 in the Scots league victory on Friday.
The Scots (9-4) will now prepare for their match against Menlo-Atherton (Atherton, CA). The Bears go into the Peninsula - Bay match with a 4-10 record. In their last match, Menlo-Atherton tipped Burlingame (Burlingame, CA), 6-1, in a league match.
The Cherokee (7-4) will now prepare for their match against Selma (Selma, CA). The Bears go into the non-league match with a 6-9 record. In their last match, Selma tipped Kingsburg (Kingsburg, CA), 13-3, in a league match.
Game Summary
It was Carlmont who struck first on Friday afternoon, getting to Sequoia JR RHP Renic Sloan for 5 runs in the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd... By the time the dust settled, the teams had combined for 18 runs on 25 hits and the Scots withstood three separate multi-run rallies for the Cherokees to record the 10-8 victory. Sequoia (7-4) (2-2 PAL Bay) again fell victim to shaky defense, committing 4 errors including three in Carlmont's 5-run 1st inning. FR 3B Kyle Pruhsmeier, SO SS Matt Smith, JR 1B Mike Michelini and SR LF Tommy Lopiparo each notched multi-hit games for the Cherokees and SR C Zack Pace added a 2-run HR in the losing effort. Sequoia will have two days off before a flurry of baseball, including four games in the Selma Easter Classic and two more league tilts against Menlo at the back end of next week.
