March 30, 2011: Etna, CA 96027 The Yreka Miners got by the host Etna Lions softball squad by a count of 7-6 in Wednesday's non-league battle.
The Miners (2-2) will now prepare for their battle against Etna (Etna, CA). The Lions go into the non-league battle with a 1-3 record. In their last battle, Etna was edged by Fall River (McArthur, CA), 3-2, in a non-league battle.

Game Summary
Etna scored two runs in the first inning and then the game remained 2-0 until the top of the fifth when Yreka evened it up 2 to 2 capitlizing on a couple of Etna defensive error. The top of the seventh Etna got an out on a ground ball to pitcher. THe next three Yreka batters reached on errors loading the bases when Emily Wagy hit a rope over the centerfielders head that grazed off Hanes glove and scored 3.Lindley hit a line drive to Burrone at second for out 2. Lacy Landrum then hit a line drive to left that plated Wagey bringing the score to 7-2. Yreka got two quick outs in the bottom of the six when Jesse Eiler hit a nice ball up the middle. Rhyan Smith got caught looking for the third out. Hanna Gomes took over the mound and promptlu dispacted the 4 and 5 hitter. Katie Brummett hit a nice line drive to right center but was caught stealing on the next pitch. Etna rallied in the seventh and scored four runs but Tandy Thackeray got caught trying to steal home on a Jesse Eiler hit to
