St. John's Mavericks (Houston, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Ball Tornadoes (Galveston, TX), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Mavericks now sport a 2-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Danbury for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 23. St. John's will face a Panthers squad coming off a 5-3 non-league loss to Fort Bend Christian Academy (Sugar Land, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 0-3.

In their next game, the Tornadoes clash with the Friendswood Mustangs (Friendswood, TX) in a 4A Region III District 24 game, on Tuesday, February 26. Ball will attempt to improve on its 0-3 season record.
