Pender Patriots (Burgaw, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Laney (Wilmington, NC), 63-56 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Pender upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Patriots travel to Wallace-Rose Hill (Teachey, NC) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Friday, December 12. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the play the White Oak Vikings (Jacksonville, NC) in a Mideastern bout, on Wednesday, December 17. Laney will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record.
