In Friday's league outing, the Altavista Combined School Colonels (Altavista, VA) basketball squad edged the host Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA), by a margin of 53-50.

The Colonels (10-2) will now prepare for their outing against Chatham (Chatham, VA). The Cavaliers go into the A Dogwood outing with a 6-9 record. In their last outing, Chatham was tipped by Bassett (Bassett, VA), 58-52, in a non-league outing.
