California High School Softball - Cypress bounces Gahr
February 25, 2012: Cypress, CA 90630 The Cypress Centurions routed the visiting Gahr Gladiators softball squad by a count of 8-3 in Saturday's non-league battle.
The Centurions (2-0) will now prepare for their battle against St. Joseph (Lakewood, CA). The Jesters go into the non-league battle with a 0-0 record.
The Gladiators now sport a 0-2 record. They play next when they travel to Irvine for a non-league battle on Saturday, February 25.
Game Summary
Six first-inning runs helped Cypress to an 8-3 win over Gahr at Cypress HS on Saturday.
Leslie Breseno racked up two RBIs on one hit for Cypress. Breseno singled in the second inning.
Madi Dove recorded the win for Cypress. The Cypress pitcher struck out four, walked one and surrendered only four hits.
Cindi Chavez, Breseno, Holiday Cahill, Ariel Braxton, Ali Wood, Ashley Ross, and Summer Penner each got hits for Cypress. Ross led the team with two hits.
Cypress increased its lead with two runs in the second. Breseno started the inning with a single, plating Wood. That was followed up by a steal of home by Breseno that scored Breseno.
A three-run fifth inning helped bring Gahr within five. An RBI single by Portillo, an RBI single by C Gonzalez, and set off a Gahr rally. But, Dove got Montanez to fly out to end the game.
