North Carolina High School Volleyball - Covenant Day Providence Day
October 18, 2018: Matthews, NC 28105 The Providence Day Chargers volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the host Covenant Day Lions to 1 in the Chargers non-league victory on Thursday.
The Chargers now possess a 12-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North Raleigh Christian Academy for a non-league game on Tuesday, October 23. Providence Day will meet a Knights team coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Wake Christian Academy (Raleigh, NC). The Knights record now stands at 24-6.
Match Summary
With a great home crowd, on senior recognition night, the Chargers defeated Covenant Day School 3-1 with scores of 16-25, 25-18, 28-26, & 25-20. Seniors Sarina Ghazi, Kyndal Smith, Jada Hampton, and Becca Dunaif all started for the Chargers. Senior Kyndal Smith led with 11 kills, while Junior Ella Abraham and Sophomore El Ferguson both added in 7 kills, and Senior Sarina Ghazi contributed 5. Senior Sarina Ghazi also contributed a team-high 10 digs alongside Sophomore Anna Riley Guiterrez. It was a great night to be a Charger and a total team win. The Chargers now move on in the NCISAA State Tournament to the Semi-Final Round to take on the #1 seed North Raleigh Christian on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.
